The Four Seasons Is Bringing its Residences to Lake Austin

In August, we took a look at the Best Hotel Suites in Austin, Texas, one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. that has become a significant destination both for business and pleasure.

One highlight of that list, and arguably the top hotel in the Texas capital, was the Four Seasons Austin, a hotel that has long-been one of the gems of ATX with Forbes Travel Guide rating it four stars and AAA awarding it the coveted four diamonds.

In that issue we highlighted the hotel’s Congressional Suite, a 1,562 sq. ft. two-bedroom suite that comes with a wraparound deck and fire pits lending a glow to views of Lady Bird Lake.

This week, the Four Seasons announced yet another offering for Austin, this one about 15 miles east of Lady Bird Lake and focused on much longer stays than those weekend trips that Austin does so well.

The Four Seasons is planning new Private Residences Lake Austin, a community with private waterfront access and dedicated Four Seasons Staff on hand.

This property, the Four Seasons’ first standalone residences in Texas, will join the other Austin property, which also offers residences, in a growing portfolio of Four Seasons Residences located around the world, including New York, Miami, London, Madrid, Abu Dhabi, Kyoto, and many more.

While the residences are located about 20 minutes from downtown Austin, they will seem like a world away—the new residences are being built on a 145-acre, secluded hill above a 90-degree bend in the lake, positioning that provides protected panoramic views of Lake Austin, Pennybacker Bridge, PGA golf course, and the city’s downtown skyline.

The developers of the project have included 90 acres of preserve and parkland in the plans, land that includes a public park and more than 2,000 feet of protected, pristine shoreline.

Reservations for the resort opened seven weeks ago and already 63 residences, and 36% of total residential square footage

Here’s what else the plans promise:

Residences

In total, the property will include 179 residences ranging from a a 1,900 square-foot pieds-à-terre, to four-bedroom residences with gardens and pools, and large penthouses with 3,000-square-foot terraces and 40-foot pools.

Each one, the Four Seasons promises, “will capture expansive views from 280 to 380 feet above Lake Austin.”

All the homes include large outdoor terraces and a floor-through experience that aims to blend the indoors with the great outdoors of Austin. Most sport semi-private lobbies, with only one other residence on the same floor.

Spa, fitness, & recreation

Along with the residences, the Four Seasons will also manage the connected Garden Plaza. That plaza will offer residents and guests access to a privates called The Orangerie, the highlight of which is an indoor garden and 82-foot indoor pool.

That space will feature a spa with hot and cold plunge pool, private treatment rooms, sauna, and steam rooms in both locker rooms, along with a 60,000 sq. ft. Athletic Center with private training rooms, two golf simulators, two squash courts, a full-size indoor basketball court, an indoor clay tennis court, an outdoor tennis court, four indoor pickelball courts, and a children’s gym and play area.

Elsewhere on site, residents get access to The Clubhouse, a space that includes  a 300-foot infinity-edge pool with three lounging and swimming zones tailored, a game room, private cabanas, and The Theater and Theatre Lounge, a place for viewing films, concerts, lectures, and more.

Dining

For dining, residents and guests can enjoy the typical Four Seasons level of curation at their own two-story, private restaurant that sports floor-to-ceiling windows all the way around.

The space won’t just be one restaurant, either. The main floor will welcome guests with booths, the second floor will hold three different private dining rooms and a separate chef’s kitchen that can be reserved for special celebrations.

It won’t all be formal, either. The space includes a more casual cafe serving everyday essentials such as artisanal brews, fresh bread, and pastries.

Private lake access

It wouldn’t be right to live on Lake Austin without having access to it, and those living at the Four Seasons Private Residences Lake Austin will access via a cable railway system called a funicular that will take guests from the Garden Plaza to The Marina and The Lake Clubhouse inside one of two air-conditioned cabins.

Once there, residents and guests can enjoy the Lake Clubhouse, a 3,500-square-foot space, along with several 576-foot boat docks, that will offer private lounges above the boat slips. While a select number of boat slips are offered for private ownership, most will be reserved for the private Owners Boating Club.
