I’ve visited Adare Manor twice now, both times short stays, and each time attending a conference. My mistake continues to be not just blocking off a week and moving in. One of Ireland’s five-star luxury estate hotels, the 840 acres includes a combination of original structures that have been painstakingly restored and new structures, several – like the wellness center, which is quite sleek, and others, like the conference center and additional room inventory, where you would be hard pressed to believe that it is new construction.

My feelings about Adare Manor aren’t unique. It’s rated five stars by Forbes Travel Guide. Its inspectors write, “Adare Manor makes for an impressive tableau against the surrounding countryside, but the interior is just as jaw-dropping. The Gothic-style mansion’s vaulted roof adds extra height to rooms filled with light from leaded windows.”
In 2022, it was named the world’s top resort by Conde Nast Traveler’s readers. That was followed up last year by ranking as the number-one resort in Europe.

The travel magazine describes the resort as “A stately manor house on hundreds of acres, a raging river, and a picture-perfect adjacent village. The long drive to the hotel’s porte cochère is impossibly smooth, parked cars are spit-shined, and staff holding umbrellas make sure not a drop of Irish rain hits a single head or piece of luggage. This isn’t your predictable, gravel-groomed, stiff, and slightly spooky country estate. The renovation and expansion of County Limerick’s most famous hotel, the most expensive in the country’s history, didn’t skimp on a thing. A new wing blends seamlessly, in soft grey granite, with its mid-nineteenth-century main building—which has a total of 365 leaded windows, 52 chimneys, seven pillars, and four towers.
If you are a golf fan, you may already have your visit planned. Adare’s golf course will host the 2027 Ryder Cup.

Your enjoyment is the product of reportedly more than $100 million by a local son made good, billionaire J.P. McManus, who bought the hotel, closed it for restoration and expansion, and is now dedicated to building its profile with events such as the golf championship.
Located just 27 miles from Shannon Airport, Adare Manor has a lot to do.
The property has fishing, equestrian, falconry, archery, clay pigeons, an extensive spa, and a racquet club. Beyond that, it’s an excellent base to explore the Wild Atlantic Way and the stunning Cliffs of Moher.
Accommodations
Adare Manor’s rich history means that its top suites are unique. That also means that there are categories of similar but different accommodations. In other words, you aren’t able to reserve a specific suite. That said, for returning guests, the hotel will try to accommodate preferences.

The Signature Suites are each at least 1,076 sq. ft. There is a spacious private sitting room with a complimentary minibar, restocked daily with your selection of beverages and snacks.

Each features historical tapestry wall hangings, original 19th-century art, and Georgian-inspired furniture views of the formal French Gardens, the River Maigue, the golf course, or the Beechwalk.

This will be a standout course in Europe and, with the Adare Manor house and estate as its setting, will be one of the finest stay-and-play venues ever created – everyone is going to want to see this place.”
