Virgin Hotels, the Virgin Group’s lifestyle hotel brand created by Richard Branson, is continuing its expansion, with plans to add three more hotels to its growing portfolio in 2022.
The Virgin Group’s 2022 expansion, which included the launch of Virgin Voyages last year, includes two new U.K. hotels and another one Stateside by the end of the year.
The two U.K.-based properties will both debut in Scotland, one in Edinburgh in the city’s Old Town and another in Glasgow on Clyde Street.
The Edinburgh hotel will debut first, in the city’s landmark India Buildings that were originally built in 1864. That hotel will offer 222 Chambers and Grand Chamber Suites along with a number of on-site eateries including the Commons Club, Virgin Hotel’s standard cultural hub.
The Glasgow hotel will open in late spring, featuring sprawling views of the River Clyde. It will offer 240 Chambers and Grand Chamber Suites with restaurants and bars onsite including the Funny Library Coffee Shop, another signature eatery from Virgin.
The New York-based hotel will welcome guests in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood at 1227 Broadway, just south of Koreatown. The hotel, located just walking distance from some major transport hubs including Penn Station, will offer 463 Chambers and several concept suites, a rooftop pool and bar, numerous dining spaces, and two floors of luxury retailers.
The New York hotel joins five other Virgin hotels based in the U.S.—Virgin Hotels Chicago, Virgin Hotels Dallas, Virgin Hotels Nashville, along with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, which opened in March 2021, and Virgin Hotels New Orleans, which opened last August.
