Onsite at Albany Bahamas

After the past two weeks exploring Baha Mar, we go about 15 minutes to Albany Bahamas, an expansive luxury resort community and marina. Owners can put their residences – ranging up to 22,000 sq. ft., into a rental pool. Guests have full run of the resort, conceived in part by Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, and Justin Timberlake. It’s the subject of this onsite report.

Overview

Albany Bahamas is a luxury community set on 600 oceanside acres on New Providence Island that opened in 2010.

It is easy to get to – just five miles from Lynden Pindling International Airport and about a half hour from downtown Nassau.

The resort is a collection of private villas and residences. Residences ranging from two to eight bedrooms are available for short stays with 24-hour-a-day concierge service.

Short-term guests have access to all the facilities from beach clubs and pools to restaurants, bars, shops, expansive fitness facilities, an onsite spa, a racquet club, equestrian facilities, and the 18-hole championship golf course. Private chefs are available as well for in-residence dining.

The resort is the brainchild of Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, along with golfing greats Tiger Woods and Ernie Els and actor and musician Justin Timberlake.

Accommodations

Short-term guests have options ranging from residential apartments to villas and custom homes.

Marina Residences

The Marina Residences offer views of the community, ocean, and marina with up to eight bedrooms.

They range from 2,300 sq. ft. to over 22,000 sq. ft., with varying amenities.

Villas

Villas range from three-to-six bedrooms and from 3,400-to-6,400 square feet with some having direct beach access. Each villa has a private pool, courtyard and gardens making them ideal for families and groups of friends.

Restaurants and Bars

There are multiple onsite, and bars and restaurants set along its pools, beach, and golf course.

The various bars provide an ideal meeting point, a place to gather before heading out, or after dinner.

To get things started the right way, enjoy breakfast or lunch at the French patisserie overlooking the marina. It offers an array of freshly baked bread and pastries, coffees and teas, and salads and sandwiches, or grab a cold-pressed juice, smoothie, or detox shot from the juice bar just outside the fitness and racquet complexes.

Pools and Beaches

Albany is situated along the South Ocean, offering a selection of pools and beach experiences perfect for family gatherings, quiet relaxation, or an adults-only oasis.

Albany’s family pool is paired with a set of winding waterslides, providing the perfect atmosphere for kids to make a splash. Its interactive water playground, Treasure Island, is equipped with tipping cones, net climbs and splashing water features.

The Azul adult-only, infinity-edge pool has private cabanas with spacious sunbeds and loungers.

This Beach Club is an adults-only destination for cocktails on the beach or a bite to eat. Water sports include snorkeling, windsurfing, waterskiing, jet skiing, and paddle boarding.

Golf

Designed by Ernie Els, Albany’s 18-hole championship golf course combines links and desert features. 

World-class practice and performance facilities complement allow golfers to improve their game off the course, including a 400-yard driving range, multiple short-game amenities, individual and group clinics, the TrackMan Range analyzing technology, and custom club fittings at Albany’s Shed, powered by True Spec Golf. 

Overlooking the 9th and 18th holes is Albany’s golf clubhouse Nineteen includes a full golf shop, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a grill room with an outdoor terrace, and an 18-seat media room.

The Albany Golf Academy provides a rigorous and disciplined schedule to elevate student-athletes skills through physical training, coaching, on-course play multiple times throughout the week, and targeted short-game practice so they can compete at the collegiate level.

Racquet Club

The Racquet Center features indoor and outdoor Har-Tru tennis and paddle tennis courts (six outdoor and one indoor). There are professionally led clinics and classes for all ages and skill sets. From warm-up games to competitive matches and tournaments, Albany’s vast tennis complex includes lighted Har-Tru tennis courts and a U.S. Open-style Deco court for a variety of programming. 

Fitness

Albany’s expansive fitness complex is designed to accommodate the off-season training requirements of professional athletes. There is a 25-meter lap pool, cardio and weight training center, and yoga, pilates, and cycling studio.

Equestrian

The Equestrian Club spans over four acres, including a 20-stall barn and nine outdoor grass paddocks, plus an all-weather arena, locker rooms, tack rooms, and more.

There is a range of private lessons, riding opportunities, and sessions led by equestrian veteran trainers and experts.

You can ride on-property five equestrian trails stretching over five miles around the golf course, inland woods, or along the beach and oceanfront. 

Sports Pavilion

The Sports Pavilion includes a half-basketball court, indoor bowling, a game room with a pool and ping pong table, shuffleboard, skeeball, and foosball. A simulator allows you to play a round of golf on more than 100 courses or play more than a dozen other sports including football and soccer. 

Outdoor is two pickleball courts, in-ground trampolines, a sports pitch, a beach volleyball court, and a playground. Albany’s Food Truck offers snacks, food, and beverages for patrons enjoying the sports pavilion.

Marina

Designed by Robert A.M. Stern, Albany’s mega-yacht marina has 71 slips ranging from 50 to 250 feet in length. It features a state-of-the-art docking system equipped with Bellingham Marine’s floating concrete docks, The marina offers easy clearance procedures and attentive service for luxury vessels. You can also arrange charters to various islands and cays as well as for deep-sea fishing.

Spa and Wellness

The Spa & Wellness Center offers facials, nail treatments, massages, detoxifying wraps and more. Many treatments are conducted in individual spa villas surrounded by lush outdoor gardens and featuring cascading waterfalls, dual massage beds, vitality soaking tubs, private bathrooms and cozy dining areas and daybeds for an intimate and relaxing spa environment. The Vela Salon brings the latest in cutting-edge hair care and styling to Albany, offering ladies haircuts, coloring and specialty treatments and services for special occasions. There’s also a barbershop for the gentlemen.

Youth

Conch House spans 5,400 sq. ft. and is open daily with activities for youth segmented by age. There are also licensed babysitters available, spring, summer, and weekly themed camps over periods that coincide with peak family travel.
