Beverly Hills may be part of Greater Los Angeles, but it often seems like its own being. Shops, restaurants, palm trees, and some of America’s best hotels, each with amazing suites.
As we all start thinking about fun places to go in the future, in this issue, we look at what some influential folks are saying about the best hotels in Beverly Hills and we provide you a look at the top accommodations at each.
1. The Beverly Hills Hotel
2. Montage Beverly Hills
3. The Peninsula Beverly Hills
4. Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Hills
5. Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills
6. Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills
7. Beverly Wilshire
8. SLS Hotel, Beverly Hills
1. The Beverly Hills Hotel & Bungalows
A top choice from Travel + Leisure, the magazine writes, “This landmark hotel is housed in a pale-pink stucco building surrounded by tropical gardens. Originally built in 1912, the property is a gathering spot for the Hollywood elite, with former patrons ranging from Elizabeth Taylor to Paris Hilton. The hotel has 185 guest rooms—many with fireplaces and views of Beverly Hills—as well as 23 garden bungalows with extra amenities like outdoor lounges and plunge pools. The property also contains a cocktail bar and three dining options: the star-studded Polo Lounge, a poolside café, and a coffee shop with a vintage soda fountain.”

Forbes writes about The Beverly Hills Hotel, “Guestrooms, which are bathed in soft hues, are kitted out in unique English furniture and marble baths. Once you’ve fully revelled in your good fortune (and the impeccable service and extra-comfy beds), make your way downstairs to the French-colonial-inspired outdoor deck.”
Presidential Bungalow

The 1,835 sq. ft. Presidential Bungalow features a chef’s kitchen and dining room seating 10 guests, a large master bedroom with a sitting area and a spacious bathroom. The furnished patio features a dining area as well as a waterfall edge swimming pool, and the bungalow’s secluded location ensures privacy. The expansive outdoor patio features a private infinity pool complete with underwater music and outdoor shower.
Presidential Suite

If you prefer to be in the hotel building as opposed to a bungalow, the 1,938 sq. ft. Presidential Suite offers a spacious living room and a large balcony overlooking Beverly Hills. This suite also has a den, dining room and full kitchen for entertaining, in addition to a marble bathroom and powder room
2. Montage Beverly Hills
Travel + Leisure writes, “On a prime swath of Los Angeles real estate, this Spanish-style 201-room hotel mixes old-Hollywood touches with modern glam. Mediterranean elements skip from star lanterns and hand-painted tiles to lacy grillwork and brawny furniture with dark wood frames and nailhead trim. Plush and persuasive as they are, Montage’s visuals are not considered to be its sharpest weapon. Neither is the 20,000-square-foot spa, with its sensual whiff of a Moroccan hammam; three restaurants; or 44-foot rooftop pool, which is attended by eight cabanas and faced with approximately 1.32 million individually hand-set mother-of-pearl mosaic tiles. The hotel’s success is based on its impeccable service and amenities.”

Meanwhile, Forbes Travel Guide inspectors report, “Located smack-dab in the middle of Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle, Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Montage Beverly Hills is the pinnacle of decadence that has come to represent the neighborhood…Once inside, you’ll swoon over the spacious rooms, complete with luxurious bathrooms and comfortable beds. After settling in, check out one of the hotel’s best experiences, which includes having breakfast at The Rooftop Grill while savoring views of the Hollywood Hills and indulging in cold-pressed juices such as The Green Drink (spinach, celery, kale, ginger, cucumber-lemon juice, and green apple).”
Residence 7A

The 3,865 sq. ft. Residence 7A overlooks the Beverly Canon Gardens with panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills. The residence features three bedrooms with two masters, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a large living room with a fireplace, a media and entertainment room, as well as a private office with a balcony. In addition, the gourmet full-service eat-in kitchen is outfitted with marble countertops and Wolf appliances, and a private wine cellar that can hold over 600 bottles of wine. Private elevator access offers discretion and security.
Montage Suite

One of the three Presidential Suites, the Montage Suite reflects the romance of a classic Hollywood estate. This lavish suite boasts a sprawling living room complete with a baby grand piano and two sitting areas, an office, a kitchenette with private server access, as well as a separate dining room with a fireplace. It also showcases one and one-half mosaic-tiled bathrooms, one with a generous tub, steam shower, dual sinks, and ample closet space. Enjoy fresh air and city views of the Hollywood Hills and Los Angeles from the fully-furnished terrace. This suite can be combined with two Garden Terrace guest rooms and the Hollywood Suite to create a 5,000-square-foot, four-bedroom residence.
3. The Peninsula Beverly Hills
The number one pick by Travel + Leisure, the magazine writes, “The superb Peninsula Beverly Hills offers readers an urban oasis in one of Los Angeles’ most alluring neighborhoods. Complementary cars, including the house Rolls-Royce and a custom Mini Cooper, can be booked to explore the area…For those who seek the ultimate in relaxation, a rooftop pool bathes guests plenty of Southern California sunshine, while the posh spa pampers with treatments that utilize Biologique Recherche products.”
Forbes Travel Guide adds its 5-star pick “is known for its old-school attention to service, it also delivers of-the-moment details, such as the in-room technology centers that control the lighting and ambiance” and recommends a stop at “the roof garden, poolside cabanas — surrounded by heated limestone flooring for year-round lounging — (which) can be transformed into offices or massage treatment spaces.”
From my own experience, expect touches like monogrammed pillowcases.
The Peninsula Villa

The 2,336 sq. ft. two-story Peninsula Villa truly feels like a luxurious residence. The décor epitomizes the fusion of Asian and contemporary Peninsula heritage with hand-painted Chinoiserie panels and contemporary and classical furnishings.
On the first level are a grand foyer, a sumptuous living area, a guest powder room and a private patio with a Jacuzzi and a private gate to the property. The elegant dining room, with its classical mahogany table that seats eight, has an adjacent kitchen fitted with top-of-the-range appliances that lend this Villa a palatial ambiance.
Reached by a sweeping stairway, the second floor features a master bedroom with a deluxe king-sized bed and a second bedroom with two double beds, both with en-suite marble bathrooms.
4. Four Seasons Hotel Beverly Hills
The inspectors at Forbes Travel Guide say, “Sitting on tree-lined Doheny Drive, Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is more than just another place to check-in, as you’ll note as you step into the gleaming lobby teeming with colorful floral arrangements.”
They add, “One of the great things about this beautiful hotel is its location. Not only are you in ritzy Beverly Hills, but you’re also a quick jaunt away from stellar shopping on Rodeo Drive and Robertson Boulevard (bring your credit card and an extra suitcase).”

They add, “One of the great things about this beautiful hotel is its location. Not only are you in ritzy Beverly Hills, but you’re also a quick jaunt away from stellar shopping on Rodeo Drive and Robertson Boulevard (bring your credit card and an extra suitcase).”
Presidential Suite East

Endless views and eight, walk-out balconies mark the 3,235 sq. ft. Presidential Suite East (both images above) located on the 16ht floor. There’s a penthouse feel with contemporary art and panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills and downtown Los Angeles. The walk-in rain shower doubles as a steam room, and a separate, guest powder room also includes a shower.
5. The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills
The newest addition to the city’s abundance of luxury hotel choices, the sister to the Beverly Hilton is quickly drawing admiration from travel journalists. Travel + Leisure writes, “The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills mixes classic Beverly Hills luxury with a lush sense of California cool. From the green velvet chairs in the rooftop bar to the cream décor and tall ceilings of the Jean-Georges restaurant, the rich attention to space and detail evoke modern comfort and Old Hollywood.

The emphasis on light and space, seen in all 170 rooms with balconies, views, and floor-to-ceiling windows, adds to the lavish ambiance. Five-star amenities continue with personal concierge services, Diptyque toiletries, and house cars (Rolls Royce and Maybach). That rooftop bar, by the way, is worth a visit on its own. It captures the hotel’s refreshing and well-appointed take on the classics of Los Angeles.

Forbes’ raters agree: “As the debut West Coast hotel of the brand, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills left nothing to chance in making a lasting first impression…A nod to Hollywood’s golden era, the hotel — built by architectural firms Perkins+Will and Gensler — is art deco modern. A new build to the tune of $200 million, the property glows with sparkling splendor in every detail — from the ornate, crystal chandelier in the lobby to the golden geometric accents of your bathroom’s flooring.”
Presidential Penthouse Suite

The 3,215 sq. ft. Presidential Penthouse Suite offers an additional 1,459 sq. ft. Private terrace. Wake up in your California king bed to sunrises through floor-to-ceiling windows. A mini-gym offers your own private workout station and entertain guests in your personal home theater. There’s a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, home entertainment/media room, and private treatment sanctuary.
6. Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills
A favorite of those who seek discretion, Conde Nast Traveler notes, “Originally built in 1975 to be condos, this tucked-away Beverly Hills building eventually became the first all-suite hotel in the U.S.—a distinction that earned it near-instant patronage from the celeb set.”

“Following extensive renovations, the place was relaunched under various brands (including Raffles), before becoming a Viceroy in 2010. Today, the hotel that hosted Rod Stewart’s wedding and Brooke Shield’s 18th birthday party still sits on a quiet, tree-lined street and has an understated, elegant vibe—along with the modern touches required by contemporary jet-setters.”
Five-Star Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills is a “sanctuary that protects guests from prying eyes and pampers them with superb service. This hotel sets itself apart with its intimate feel and exclusivity (the pool, for example, is for hotel guests only, which isn’t always the case at L.A. hotels). The rooms are also some of the most spacious in Tinseltown, with cutting-edge technology, large walk-in closets and balconies that overlook lovely tree-lined Burton Way,” writes Forbes Travel Guide.

It says, “The hotel really feels like a home away from home — it’s as if you’re staying at a friend’s house, and a massive one at that. A hangout for celebrities and a Five-Star rating to boot, the Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills is a stylish standout among Los Angeles hotels. The luxurious pool has some amazing views of Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Hills.”
Presidential Suite

One of its many options, the 4,400 sq. ft. Presidential Suite is perfect for longer-term stays, families, and intimate events. There are five balconies that increase the sense of light and spaciousness, a full luxury kitchen and stocked refrigerator makes this suite feel like home.
In addition to the Master bedroom with a King bed, there are interconnecting options with an adjoining suite. Spaces include a grand seating and lounge area, private executive office, home theater, full kitchen, Italian Dada finishes and professional appliances. The dining area can host up to 12 people.
7. Beverly Wilshire
Known as the Pretty Woman hotel Forbes Travel Guide writes, “When Warren Beatty was a swinging bachelor, the Hollywood legend spent 15 years nesting in a palatial suite at the Beverly Wilshire. And thanks to a $35 million renovation and additions such as an ultra-sleek cocktail lounge and Wolfgang Puck’s steakhouse CUT (designed by Richard Meier of Getty Center fame), the lavish, historic grand hotel lures today’s hottest celebrities, too.”

Best of all – depending on your budget – the hotel is situated at the start of Rodeo Drive. But don’t worry. If you shop a bit too much, the hotel concierge will dispatch a bellboy to assist you to bring your goodies back home.
Penthouse Suite

Located on the 14th floor, the 5,000 sq. ft. Penthouse Suite includes three bedrooms, each with a full bath, and a powder room. Channel you best Richard Gere or Julia Roberts as you sip champagne and take in the 270-degree views of the Los Angeles area.
8. SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills
Not always top of mind, but voted number one by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler, “The chic Philippe Starck decor at this L.A. hotspot rockets guests into the future as soon as they walk in. Fresh off a $22 million renovation in 2018, the hotel has retained the playground-esque feel that Starck created through a unique blend of dining, drinking, and lounge spaces that are mostly decorated with mid-century modern furnishings, with surrealist touches.”

Forbes Travel Guide reports, “Open since 2008, SLS Hotel Beverly Hills remains the place to see and be seen. The Bazaar by José Andrés, the four-part nightlife epicenter, offers retail therapy in the Moss gift shop, molecular gastronomic dining at the only restaurant from the celebrity chef on the West Coast, liquid nitrogen cocktails at Bar Centro and tea and sweet treats at the Patisserie. With a 5,000-square foot spa, rooftop lounge and pool and all-day Tres restaurant, the chic SLS (which stands for Style Luxury Service) is a world unto itself with an abundance of stimulation — both visually and physically.”
Presidential Suite

At 1,900 sq. ft. the Presidential Suite features a living room, grand dining area, powder room, master bedroom, and bathroom. The bedroom features a walk-in closet and a full dressing area. The dining area accommodates up to 10 guests.
There’s a full wet bar, pantry, and kitchen. You can connect two additional rooms, creating a three-bedroom suite.
